FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q:  Can I ride a cross bike?

A:  Yes, you can ride any kind of bicycle you like.  The only categories are mountain bike and single speed.  In the case of a geared cross bike, it would fall under the mountain bike category.

Q: Where is parking for athletes on race day?

A:  Race day parking for athletes is in surface parking lots and legal street parking spaces.  There is a parking garage on 100 East just north of Center Street.  Remember, if you have a bicycle on the roof of your car, you’ll need to remove it before entering this parking structure.

Q:  How can I volunteer?

A:  Go to volunteer info

Q:  Where is the handicapped parking?

A:  All Handicapped designated parking spots in downtown Cedar City will be open and enforced.

Q:  Where is the spectator parking?

A:  In the parking structure just north of Center Street on 100 East and in surface lots & streets near Main Street Park.

Q:  What is the altitude of Cedar City?

A:  5846-feet (1782-meters)

Q:  How much total climbing is there in the 100km?

A:  Just over 7500-feet (2286-meters)

Q:  How much total climbing is there in the 60km?

A:  Just under 5000-feet (1524-meters)

Q:  I/my friend can’t make it to Registration.  How can they get their race kit (bib #, goodie bag, etc.)?

A:  All athletes must register in order to race.  ONLY the athlete can pick up their race kit.

Q: What time should I arrive on race morning?

A:  The race begins at 8:00am for ALL events (25, 60, & 100km).  The venue will open at 6am for any final registration issues so plan to arrive with plenty of time to stage to the starting corral line 20-minutes prior to the start of the event.

Q:  Can my family come into the start corral with me?

A:  For the safety and security of all the athletes, only credentialed personnel and athletes can enter the start corral. Family can meet athletes after the race at the expo in Main Street Park.

Q:  Are there practice rides?

A:  Fire Road will let you know about any organized practice rides.  If you are riding the course outside of race day, please be courteous to drivers and respect private property.

Q:  Is there a pre-race athlete meeting?

A:  Yes.  There will be an athlete video posted on-line.  Staff will be available for questions in Main Street Park throughout expo hours and at 7pm on Friday night July 6th.

Q:  I lost/forgot my timing chip and/or bib #.  What can I do?

A:  Go to the timing tent near the start line.

Q:  What are the cutoff times for the 100km?

A: – 11:30am at 17.85 miles at the intersection of Kanarra Mtn. Rd. & Kolob Rd.

- 1:40pm at mile 32.24 miles at the intersection of Oak Valley Rd and Oak Creek Rd.

- 4:00pm at mile 39.2 miles at the intersection of Kolob Reservoir Rd. and Kolob Dr.

Fire Road Cycling reserves the right to remove an athlete from the course and DNF the athlete if our course staff determines that there is no possibility of the athlete finishing before the posted cut-off times based on your location, the time and average speed to that point.

Q:  Are there cutoff times for the 25km or the 60km?

A:  No.

Q:  Where is bike tech support on racing morning?

A:  In the expo area in Main Street Park – bike mechanics & pumps will be available.

Q:  Will there be tech support on the bike course during the event?

A:  There will be roaming tech vehicles throughout the course and stationary locations available (at aid stations) on a first come, first served basis.  During the event, it’s best to try and get to an Aid station as they will have radio contact with the roaming tech support vehicles.

Q:  Where are the results posted?

A:  Results will be posted in the post-race athlete food area at Main Street Park and on the Fire Road website

Q:  Where is Lost and Found?

A:  At the Information Tent in the expo area at Main Street Park.
